Makore Wood Veneer, Block Mottled
Block Mottled Makore veneer is the same color as regular Makore, deep reddish brown. Block Mottled Makore veneer has a variegated or block pattern figure which gives a dramatic effect. Makore wood veneer is available in 4′ x 8′ sheets normally in FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed veneer sheets with a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option. Block Mottled figured Makore veneer is also available in the 4′ x 10′ size and with Tuf-Pli™ polyback or Pli-Flex™ wood on wood backers as special order.
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Block mottle makore wood veneer is lustrous and rather striking in appearance with a high figure that is accentuated when the log is quarter cut. Makore is an African hardwood of medium density that has occasional light silica inclusions. Generally standard grade block mottle makore wood veneer has a fine to medium texture with tight pores and interlocked grain. Block mottle makore wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well but is usually finished with a clear coat that preserves the warm luminescent beauty of the wood’s natural color and accentuates the block mottled figure.
