Khaya Wood Veneer – Flat Cut
Flat cut khaya veneer, also known as plain sliced khaya wood veneer or flat cut African khaya veneer, is typically a pinkish-red brown to a deep darker red brown color. It is available in 4′ x 8′, 4′ x 10′ and 8′ x 4′ sizes as FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed, Tuf-Pli™ polyback, Pli-Flex™ wood on wood or cross grain veneer sheets with a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option.
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. (Except cross grain, running along the 4′ dimension). Flat cut khaya veneer has well defined cathedrals and lustrous grain. Standard A grade flat cut khaya wood veneer commonly allows for some small defects such as occasional pin knots and small grain deflections. Khaya is an African hardwood of medium density that is often used as a substitute for South American mahogany. It is easy to work with and strong, with a moderately coarse texture, slightly porous grain and consistent color. Flat cut khaya wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well which accentuate the grain’s natural luster.
