Curly Maple Veneer – High Figured
Curly Maple veneer is a figured grade of maple wood veneer with a distinctive wide band or curl figure throughout, which is highly sought after. This veneer is normally flat cut but can also be quarter cut. When the figure is tight it is often referred to as fiddleback maple. It is lustrous and rather striking in appearance.
Generally, high figured curly maple veneer is considered a premium grade, although mineral streaks and vine marks are not uncommon. It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Maple is a hardwood that is dense, relatively easy to work with and strong. It has a smooth texture and tight wavy grain. Curly maple wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well which accentuate the figure. It is usually finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and beauty of the wood’s natural color.
