Bubinga Wood Veneer, Flat Cut
Bubinga veneer, also known as flat cut bubinga wood veneer or plain sliced bubinga veneer, is typically a rich pinkish medium red brown color with darker crimson to deeper dark brown veining that defines the cathedrals. It’s available in 4′ x 8′ sheets in FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed sheets with a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option. Flat cut Bubinga wood veneer is also available in a 4′ x 10′ size and with the Tuf-Pli™ polyback and Pli-Flex™ wood on wood backer options as special order.
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Standard grade bubinga wood veneer commonly allows for some small defects such as occasional pin knots and grain swirls. Bubinga is an African hardwood that is dense, relatively easy to work with and strong. It has a moderately coarse texture and a slightly porous grain. Flat cut bubinga veneer is known to have some flamed or flash figure and get slightly darker with age. Bubinga wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well but is most often finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and accentuates the color and beauty of the wood’s natural grain.
