Birdseye Maple Veneer – Medium Figure

$271.68

Birdseye Maple veneer is a figured grade of maple with distinctive small round markings that resemble the size and shape of birds’ eyes. Its coloration is very similar to regular maple. It is available in 4′ x 8′ sheets normally in FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed veneer sheets with a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option. Medium birdseye Maple veneer is also available in the 4′ x 10′ size and with Tuf-Pli™ polyback or Pli-Flex™ wood on wood backers as special order.

It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Medium figure birdseye maple veneer is normally flat cut or rotary cut and can very seldom be quarter cut . The figure in birdseye maple is considered medium when the light olive or cream grey birdseye is fairly consistent and sparingly spaced throughout the sheet. Medium figure birdseye maple wood veneer is lustrous and rather striking in appearance. Maple is a hardwood that is dense, relatively easy to work with and strong. Birdseye maple veneer has a smooth texture and tight but divergent grain. Generally medium birdseye maple veneer is considered a standard A grade although it can be premium if the grain is devoid of mineral streaks and vine marks. Slight flash figure around the birdseyes is not uncommon. Birdseye maple wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well which accentuate the figure. It is usually finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and beauty of the wood’s natural color.
